2011
2011 SEASON
RESULTS OF PMVC TIME-TRIAL AND TRACK SERIES, WASHINGTON BLVD. TRACK, PITTSBURGH,
PA, JUNE-AUGUST, 2011
A good night of pretty tight racing by some hard-core track cyclists. Lots
of promises to bring out more riders next time. As it was, everyone it he
group of 8 scored points. In between the nightÕs events Steve Brewer
powered his way to new records in both the standing-start and flying start
1 lap. His standing-start time would have been even faster had he managed
to get out of his little chain ring. His time was averaged among three
stopwatches. Take a look at his mph:
Old Records:
1/2 mi standing start ; 1 lap ; 56.99 ; 31.6mph ; Joe Papp ; 7/24/99
1/2 mi flying start ; 1 lap ; 57.83 ; 31.2mph ; George Yoder ; 7/2/04
New Records:
1/2 mi standing start ; 1 lap ; 55.59 ; 32.38mph ; Steven Brewer ; 6/10/11
1/2 mi flying start ; 1 lap ; 54.52 ; 33.01mph ; Steven Brewer ; 6/10/11

Friday Night Track Night is the best-kept bike-event secret in town. The
quality of racing is good and evenly matched, and the chance for
anaerobic training is unmatched. It seems that the existing records for
the 200 meter flying and standing start are not that bad, as no one broke
either one. Steve Brewer came awfully close to the standing start record
of 17.61, with a time of 17.64. Steve Bedillion made a valiant try for the
standing-start 1-lap record, but fell short by a little over a second. In
other news, Mark Nicoll looks like heÕs on the road back to fitness.
Everyone ended up with points. Here are the results:
A. 2-lap TT

It was one of those nights when you say the air was heavy, but it
didnÕt prevent some good times. Gray Patton broke her existing womenÕs
record by
more than a minute, and she went on to establish a womenÕs one-hour
record of some 25.7 miles. WeÕll measure the distance carefully during
the week.
Four people got into, or confirmed their membership in, the One-Hour
Club. Steve Marlette posted both a personal best and established the
most times
under one hour during the 10 years the Friday time trials have been
held. Ed Johnson, showing good form as always, also got a personal
best, as did
several others. Congratulations to all finishers.
